Gian Maria Tosatti’s work 6 Miracolo – archeologia (Portale) consists of a portcullis of a former factory in the Forcella neighborhood of Naples, where the sixth chapter of the artist’s cycle of environmental works entitled Sette stagioni dello spirito (2013-2016) took place. The industrial site, abandoned and riddled with gunfire as witnessed by this iron “portal,” hosted a long process of care and resignification that elicited the spontaneous participation of the inhabitants of the surrounding alleys. The visitors found a way to inhabit this other dimension, separated from reality by this porous diaphragm, working collectively and symbolically to repair the lacerations of the past.
