The volumes Gian Maria Tosatti. Seven Season of the Spirit and Gian Maria Tosatti. Seven Season of the Spirit. Diary 2013 – 2016 (Electa, 2017) are published on the occasion of the last exhibition devoted to the omonymous triennial project, curated by Eugenio Viola and organised by Madre museum from December 16th, 2016 to Avril 17th, 2017.
The first volume, conceived as a catalogue, summarize the different chapters in an unitary and further perspective by not only tending to give back the memory of that experience, as to rebuild the “behind the scenes” path, allowing the reader to retrace the seven installations in their overall articulation, in the same way the exhibition at Madre allowed the visitor to diachronically pass through the entire cycle of Sette Stagioni dello Spirito (“Seven Season of the Spirit”), sharing a different vision, necessarily a selective one as it is the one imposed by memory, and on the same time new, demanded by the reproposition of this experience in the museal context.
The second volume, conceived as a diary that accompanies the publication of the catalogue, gives back the daily narrative and the interior effect through the artist words and reflections, and on the same time provides the theorical structure of the project, with its technical elements but also with a literary, philosophical, theological and social matrix.
