“Alessandro Mendini: piccole fantasie quotidiane” is the first exhibition in an Italian public museum since his death on February 18, 2019, and the first in the history of Madre, dedicated to one of the most important figures in the international design and architecture scene after World War II. Created thanks to a close collaboration with Studio Alessandro Mendini and curated by Gianluca Riccio and Arianna Rosica, the exhibition investigates the multidisciplinary nature of Mendini’s work and the link between his poetics and avant-garde artistic culture, with a focus on his relationship with Naples, a city that has hosted some of his public art works. Three are the main projects: the redesign of the Salvator Rosa and Materdei metro stations as well as that of some key elements in the renovation of the Villa Comunale.
