Talk with Thomas Hirschhorn

Gli anni. Capitolo 3

As part of the third chapter of Gli anni, Madre continues the public program accompanying the exhibition with a conversation between the exhibition’s curator and outgoing director of Madre, Eva Fabbris, curator Yasmil Raymond, and artist Thomas Hirschhorn.

The conversation will retrace the conception and trajectory of Green Coffin (2006), an environmental sculpture first presented at Galleria Alfonso Artiaco in 2006. Depicting the coffin of Palestinian political leader Yasser Arafat being carried aloft by a multitude of hands, the work examines the relationship between art, commemorative ritual, and public space.
